Different structural organizations of the transference in working with neurotic, narcissistic and borderline patients

Drs Kernberg and Caligor will present from their vast experience in working with borderline and narcissistic patients and share their expertise on different structural organizations of the transference in working with the most difficult cases.

Learning Objectives: After the lecture the participant should be able to

  • Understand and be able to discuss how Kernberg applies contemporary psychoanalytic object relations theory to a classification of psychoanalytic techniques in terms of four fundamental technical interventions: interpretation, transference analysis, technical neutrality and countertransference.
  • Understand and be able to discuss how Kernberg applies this classification of psychoanalytic interventions to specific structural organizations of the transference, based on the application of object relations theory to the activation of particular internalized object relations in the transference.
